The greatest place on earth...in the form of water, sand and plenty and surfing. Unless, of course, you are the pregnant one. Never the less, STILL the epic occasion of the year. Lake Powell is the one trip we (as in all of my Lake Powell junkies) look forward to. No sugar plum fairies dancing in our heads... Nay, we dream of little surfers cruising the dream waves!

I have been a little, or a lot, behind on my blogging. So...we start here. Lake Powell trips in full force.

Grandma and grandpa Huff joined the addiction this year. I have to say, they were troopers! Those two still got it...whatever "it" is. They behaved themselves very well. I am a proud daughter. Well done mom and dad...well done.

Confession: I may or may not have a problem with taking somewhat inappropriate photos of Chris. For this reason, many photos may or may not of been censored...for your convenience. However, I find him very attractive and my trigger finger has a tendency to fire on impulse. Chris may or may not be aware of this..."issue" So...this is between us.

I am sad to see Summer give away to the changing Fall colors. This past Summer has been packed with the "goods!" Luckily, we were able to fit in serious boating trips...nearly every weekend.
We also spent a lot of time with family and dear friends. I am thankful for these great memories...and mostly for a HOT hubby who keeps me living. (A hot hubby who is multiple shades of brown, tan and white-ish ;0)

Goes like this...

Chris and I are talking about the random events of the day while we are driving to our friend's house for the annul Christmas party (see Christmas party pics below). Ryu is in the back seat talking to himself..or rather, trying to get our attention. "MOMMY...MOMMY!" Ryu yells. "What Ryu?" I say. "You talking!" Responds my little boy. "I know. I am talking to your daddy. Did you need to say something?" I say, surprised by his first response. "Yeah!" He says. "Okay, what do you want to say?" I say. After a short pause Ryu says...."SOMETHING!"

What two year old says these things??? He is so funny.

The Christmas party was a blast. It was held at the Solie's house this year. I love this time of year for the chance to spend more time with family and friends. I have great friends and a great family. Thank you for everything you are and do! I love you all!!! AND...I love that smile Ryu!

Unwrapping presents this year was Fantastic! Ryu totally caught the excitement of it all! It was so much fun to watch him! TWO is my favorite year so far! I cannot believe this kid is 2!! He speaks a ton, is potty training, and has become quite the character! Lately, he loves to be the center of attention and is willing to make you laugh at the drop of a hat. How are we so lucky??? We love our Ryu!!

Buzz Light Year

Ry had a blast this Halloween. Chris and I took him to a few houses this year. Ry was a little unsure what we were doing, knocking on random doors and saying "tick-or-treat!" Although, he liked the end result... CaNdY!!!

Decorating pumpkins this year was fun. Daddy was on a hunting trip so it was just Ry and I for this festivity. Good times. I was glad that we skipped the "guts" this year. I found these great potato head decorations for pumpkins at Walmart.

Aquarium

The aquarium was a lot better than I thought it was going to be. Ry, Jessica, Cindy and I took the trip and enjoyed every second of it. Ry was thrilled to see Nemo and froggies...two of his favorite animals.

Caterpillars!

A few weeks ago, I was driving home from work and I saw these little fuzzy things scurrying across the road. Curiosity got the cat and I had to pull over. I caught four little caterpillars to take home to Ryu. Needless to say, Ryu loved them. Ryu got to feed them and hold them every day, which was the greatest thing ever for him. After doing a little research, turns out these little guys are called Woolybear caterpillars. They turn into moths after they cocoon in JUNE. I was not wiling to keep them that long so after a week we let them go so they could find a home before winter came. It was fun while it lasted.

Things are going well at the Whiteman house. We Had a great Halloween and can not wait for Christmas. Honestly, I think about it every day. I can't wait to see what Ry thinks of this season. I think he is going to catch on to the "spirit" of Christmas and totally eat it up! As will I!!

For graduation, Chris bought us a time-share on a house boat in Lake Powell. I have been so excited to go on this trip! We were thrilled to take Ryu to one of our favorite boating/camping destinations! Lake Powell has a certain "feel" to it. If you have ever been, you know what I am talking about. The place is simply beautiful, and in September, the weather is too perfect! I am already looking forward to next year!

Ryu was not thrilled about the cooler water but he seemed to enjoy floating around a bit.

Ryu spent most of his time on the beach. With the rising waters, we were lucky enough to find a great beach with great sand. I was grateful. Sometimes at Powell, it is really hard to find a non-rocky-sharp stick-thorn in your foot-kind of beach.

Ah, we got to meet some great new friends that taught us how to surf the wake. This is not wakeboarding. This is actually surfing. It is so much fun and really easy to do! I have to say...I am addicted. I LOVE surfing. Unfortunately, surfing requires a really nice boat (a V-drive). Chris and I now have a "boat fund" for our surfing entertainment. Holy-cow, you need to try it!

I love this picture, just because of Ry's ear. Ha ha...he really liked to ride in the boat after he got used to it. At first, he was a little un-sure about boating. But what can I say, he is born for Powell adventures. It is in his blood!

I got to teach Ry how to fish Hot dog style. I love to fish and so does Ry. This was his first time fishing where he was successful. Hot dogs...they work.

I lOVE, LOVE this picture. This is Ry's first catch. A nice big carp. As you can see, he is pretty proud of himself and totally soaked in dad's praise!

I think he still remembers this fish. He walks around saying "fishy?, Fishy?" all day. I think we have many fishing trips in our future. I am looking forward to some good mommy-son dates that I will enjoy as much as he will.

Yes...Mr. independent likes to use the "big-boy" potty. We really haven't been trying to potty train Ry...he is only 19 months old BUT, Ry definitely has an interest in learning. I think he just likes our reaction when he actually "uses" the potty. Oh, and it might just be all about the flush. It is pretty exciting to flush the potty.

As you can see...Ry is in mid-egging-of-the-daddy to light "Mooore" fireworks. Ry really loved the 4th this year. We had lots of fun watching Ry. However, this could lead to a pyro problem. Should I be worried??

18 MONTHS OLD
I have been a serious slacker on getting these pictures taken and posted. I cannot believe that Ry is a year and a half already. Time has gone by so fast.

I really have enjoyed this stage of Ry's life. He is so funny and so interesting. He says so many words and tries new words everyday. He is interested in everything we do and say, which could be scary at times. He loves to learn and explore. He finds all of my soft spots and knows how to pull my stings. He has an uncanny ability to make anyone laugh. His smile almost makes me explode. I love him more and more everyday. I often see many of my family members in his expressions. He tells me he loves me. He gives me kisses and hugs. He tells me "nigh-nigh" after I read him a story. Ry loves Lucy and Lucy loves Ry...as long as he is not pulling her tail. He believes in me as a mommy. He knows that he is special and he is the life in me.

Dear Ry;

I am truly honored to be your mother and I am so grateful for the opportunity. You have changed me. You are a deep part of my being. I have loved to watch you grow and change. You have a beauty that cannot exist in any other way. I love you more than I could ever express. I hope that you may forgive me for my short comings in the present and in the future. I hope the short coming are few, however, I assure you there will be times were I will fall short. Know that you are my reason for this life and I plan to serve you well. Love you Ry-man.

Every now and then, an event in life has the capacity to re-route our current way of thinking. This event has the power to remind us of our mortal condition and force a humility that brings us crashing to our knees. Humility...
In part, these events open wounds so deep that sanity seems over estimated and the fragility of our souls become exposed, without permission. A hurricane of emotions release, leaving a broken wake of what is real and the feelings that seem like part of a horror movie. These times have that ability to unearth even the heaviest of anchors. Our feet feel frozen in place while we watch the world continue... without even a blink of an eye. Amazingly, the sun will still rise tomorrow. Remember, our plan is not THE PLAN.
Eventually, time be-friends us and slowly dissolves the bitter emptiness left behind. The event looses it's sting, even while it's footprint is left behind...never to be erased. We grow. We change event by event. This too is part of THE PLAN. Today's event has forced me to reflect upon myself and who I should be. Time for new goals. I hope that you know that I love you all. I need to say it more. Forgive me for such a post...

Life has been pretty great now that I am FINALLY graduated. I love to spend time with my boys and Lucy. There seems to be a new feel at home without the stress of finals and boards. I really feel like a different person...and this is a good thing.

I found a great job two weeks ago. I work for Aspen Family Dental. They are a newer office with lots of great perks. I love, LOVE it! It is a great environment and the staff is amazing. Lucky day!

Oh and, they take all types of dental insurance. They even have their own kind of dental plans if you don't have any insurance. SO... if want to come, DO! I LOVE to clean teeth!;)

Moving is the pits! I don't believe there is anything quite as tedious and exhausting as moving out of a house. We have gather many "extras" over the last five and a half years. Moving has given me time to think about how these "extras" come about... and a serious need for changing my strategy for the collection of "extras." At the time of acquiring "extras" it seems like a good idea. "I will need "this"...just in case, or "this" will come in handy if "this" happens, and my personal favorite... "If I work really hard, I am sure I will be able to fit in "this" someday...La de da! I guess on the bright side of moving, I found a way to "loose" some of those "extras." Somehow, this only seems like making more room for more "extras." Exactly how do we rid our "extras" permanently? Blah!

We recently moved out of our house and moved to Woodland Hills with Chris's parents. We rented out our home and plan to make student loan payments a major priority for the next six months. We hope to purchase a new home as soon as possible and plan to work very hard to meet this goal. Are we crazy??? ALWAYS! But, we live for adventure. I guess...

Whoa...boy, has a lot been going on. Here is the skinny...

Event # 1

Yeah...Spring has sprung! Oh, but it is the middle of May already! Ha ha... I am so behind!
We have been enjoying the great weather. Ry has so much fun being outside! It is a blast to watch him!
All of the great Spring flowers are in full bloom, including the rhubarb, which sparked an interest in the Ry-man.

Spring weather tends to bring all of the little critters out of hiding. This is fun...fun to squish potato bugs, taste worms ( Yes. I said TASTE worms), and create with sidewalk chalk. Little boy adventures.

Just before our last round of testing and graduation, my class decided to loosen up by stuffing our waist lines with great food! Is there a better way to relax?? I guess I should explain. This is My Lindsey. We got some silly awards from the class!

IT IS OVER!

I finally graduated on the 27Th of April. I am so glad that this time in my life has finally come. I have now been in school for five years and I am not sad to close this chapter. However, I am really going to miss my great friends in my class. We have spent nearly everyday, eight to five, with each other for 24 months. Most of my comrades are from out of state and will be heading home in the near future. I miss my ladies!!!

To my ladies...I wish you the absolute best dental hygiene career that is possible. I love you and miss you so much! You are an important part of my life and I am thankful for the opportunity to know each of you! I am grateful we met!!

Yesterday I received the results of my national tests. I passed!! Yahoo!! I did really and I am SO relieved! I am now and official registered dental hygienist! Time to get the resumes out! Here I come!!!

Going On An Ant Hunt

While we had a taste of SPRING for a few days, Ry-man got to spend a good amount of time outside. He LOVES to be outside. He actually waits by the door until the morning warms enough for the little critters to come out. As soon as he is set free, he is like a animal out of a cage. "WOW," Ry says as he picks up rocks, handfuls of dirt, and as he tries to walk on the lumpy lawn without falling too many times. He is so much fun to watch. I love his eager appetite for learning and I LOVE to witness his new discoveries. I am really looking forward to this summer. I can't wait for the new adventures ahead like...ant hunting.

Other news:

Since the change in weather, Ry was unfortunate enough to catch R.S.V. as well as a double ear infection. He has been so miserable. He has had a temperature of 103, a horrible cough, and a crappy nose. It is so sad to see him so sick. I am glad that we didn't have to spend time in the hospital but it got pretty close. R.S.V. makes it difficult, for the poor little guys who catch it, to breath. I think we have had about 15 hours of sleep since last Monday. Of course this would happen the night before my National Boards test. This is my kind of luck. I got three hours of sleep before the test of my life. Truth is, I probably wouldn't have slept much anyway, nerves and all. I have been studying for this test since January so, I feel like a was prepared enough to wing the lack of sleep. The test took me SEVEN hours to take! It was very difficult and exhausting! Now I just have to wait 6 to 8 weeks for the results. I plan on a passing grade otherwise, Chris may have to start dancing tables! :) Anyhow, Ry is doing much better today. He is on a good dose of antibiotics, sleeping with a humidifier, and getting everything he wants...of course. I can't wait until he is on his feet and going again.

A bit of good news....I graduate in ONE MONTH!!! WAHOO! (If you could see my face, you would possible understand the excitement that I feel. Hell is almost over!! Not exaggerating!)

Yes, I have gone MI...AND it is not quite over yet! This is my final semester of dental hygiene school. I can't even tell you how excited I am to close this chapter of my life. It has been so much work and frankly, I am not sure if I have much more to give. Luckily, I have a great family who supports me and my chaos and I also have an amazing camaraderie with my fellow tooth lovers. I am so grateful for the great friendships I have made over the last year and a half. They are the sole reason I will miss dental hygiene torture. I LOVE my ladies!

This is my research team. Lindsey and Brandi. We were able to present our research project, Generation Y: Xylitol, at the convention. Lets just say that it was definitely an interesting experience and I am glad to have it past me.

AND...we found Julie! We use to work with Julie. She is a great hygienist!

Life is crazier than ever! I am so ready for "normalcy"...if there is such a thing. As long as these next two months go smoothly, I may retain some sanity and I will finally graduate with the career that I have always wanted. COME ON APRIL 27th!!!

I have posted this clip before. So for those of you who have seen this...I apologize. However, it is amazing how many people have asked me about this clip. This is one of my favorite memories. I can't help it, he is just too cute. I love Ry's laugh. It is as addicting as it is contagious. ENJOY!!

Anniversary Weekend

After packing our bags with our most prized possession, Chris and I spent our sixth anniversary in Salt Lake.

We stayed at the Little America. This place has the most amazing breakfast buffet EVER...the true reason we stay there.

Next stop was the Gateway Discovery museum. We really didn't have a lot of time before we had dinner reservations, so we learned about the museum for future stops. It is definitely a kid's place. FUN, FUN, FUN!!! I think Ry needs to be a bit older before we make this stop. However, it is a great place to go and we will be going, eventually.

After an AMAZING dinner at Biaggi's, we watched the Jazz loose to the Cleavland Cavilers- 97 to 103. It was actually a pretty good game. Chris and I were just excited we got to stay for the whole game. We didn't think Ry would make it through it, but for once, he did. We were so proud of him. Ry loved the game. He clapped when everyone else did and yelled with his kazoo in all of the off moments...pretty entertaining! I think I ended up laughing more at Ry than actually watching the game. O-well, it was worth it!

It was so much fun to spend the night with my boys.

After room-service breakfast for Ry at 8:00am, it was time for a swim. Lucky for Ry, he gets to sport some vinyl pants for diaper protection. Only Ry could make vinyl pants cute.

We spent about an hour in the pool, just enough time for our toes and fingers to become little prunes. I love the new saline pools. they are so cool! *This is a mental note for the one day that I "HOPE" to get a pool.

After baths and showers and a morning nap, we ate at our favorite breakfast buffet. It was FABULOUS, as always. A successful buffet includes; an amazing fruit selection, all the breakfast classics, and at least a gain of one pound while feeling enormous! PERFECT...we accomplished!!

What a great anniversary. We had tons of fun. I love spending moments like these with my boys.

On January 24, we will be celebrating our sixth anniversary. It is hard to believe that six years has gone by so quickly. When I look to the past and reflect upon our accomplishments, it does seem that six years would suffice...a four week engagement, an eighteen month deployment to Iraq, purchasing a home, helicopter school, dental hygiene school, having the Ry-man, and all the stuff in between. I can not say that I would have life any other way. Chris is my source of clarity and my clam to our crazy life. I appreciate his belief in me and his wisdom in us. He fills in the gaps where I often fall short, and is somehow able to see beyond my chaos. Not only has Chris given me the companionship I have dreamed of, he has given me a son who, without a doubt, completes our existence. For him, I am forever in his debt. I love you Chris. Thank you for an amazing six years!

Winter Wonder Land

Today was suppose to be my first day back to school...for the last semester, WAHOO!! However, class was cancelled because of the snow. So...Ry, Lucy and I decided we would enjoy that lovely white stuff!

HA...Ry was digging tunnels in the snow.

We had a great day. It was nice to stay home for one more day...before the long hours of studying and getting geared for National Boards begins. I can't even tell you how excited I am for this last semester to begin...just so it can end. It has been a really long and hard road to pave; not just for me, but for my family. I am ready for a "normal" life and to enjoy my family and help it grow. It has been really hard to leave Ry as much as I have had to....I've missed many sweet moments. Yet, I have treasured those moments I have been able to witness. I love my family. They are my sense of direction and hope.

Dinos...and giant fish!!!

Chris, Ry, Nikki, Jeff, Keizya, Grandma and Grandpa Whiteman, and I explored the Dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving Point on Saturday. Wow...what a cool place. We had lots of new adventures...
Ry got to feel fossils of trees

and discover what "dinos" really are...not just a word mom made up.

Well, not quite as heavy as a dinosaur...but just as messy!!! Try putting these two together for a few hours. Ha, and just when you think you had things under control. Think again mommy!!!

Ry got to check out the ancient dino swamp. Really, it was all about seeing how far I would let him go without actually getting in the swamp.

Oh and advancing to Paleontology with Keizya. They discovered their own dinosaur...it will be named Ryzasaur. This dino was specific to Utah and was well known for eating large amounts of food (including sand), dirtying many, many diapers, and is able to create mass destruction in 30 seconds.

This Ryzasaur is giving up the sand he previously ate. Hopefully, sand will now be excluded from his diet.

The exhibit was great. We all had a lot of fun and spent about three hours refreshing our memories with fourth grade knowledge. I am sure we will be visiting the DINOS again in the future...at least for grandpa's sake!!

Mmmmm...

We made some cream for pumpkin pie over the holidays. What the heck...we gave Ry a beater. Of course he loved it!! He loved it just as much as the baby bus rides. Now that Ry is walking well and Keizya is really good at walking with something to hold on to, they are enjoying new activities, like bus rides. They are so much fun to watch and enjoy. We are constantly laughing about and discussing their new achievements and silly tactics. They (well, mostly Ry) are also learning how to share and to be "soft" with each other. I feel that this is going to be a constant battle. Yet, I am confident that we adults will prevail...somehow.

Ryu was a very good boy this year. He got lots of new toys to entertain him...for a moment anyway. Although, I think his favorite part was opening his new toys. Chris and I had a lot of fun watching Ry discover his first Christmas. Remember the magic? Ryu has brought much of that magic back to our Christmas. This Christmas felt a little more like the good ole' days.

Nikki and the babies. Notice Ry's ear. He had some weird reaction to some juice. He broke out in hives EVERYWHERE. Even IN his ears. Ry didn't seem to be as worried as I was. After some Benadryl and a bath, the hives disappeared. It was kind of scary... I hope we can steer clear of future reactions. Despite the hives and an episode of choking on some yams, Ry seemed to have a good time.

Ryu is ONE!!!

I can't even believe that a whole year has gone by already! WOW, time goes by so fast when you are having fun.
Ryu is amazing. His new favorite word is "Hi!" He speaks with such enthusiasm.

He never fails to surprise us with some new expression or vocal spasm that makes us smile.
He walks now... and is very quick. He keeps me on my toes!

It is amazing...the process of becoming a parent. Everyday there is a new adventure and a new thing to love about them and each other. Chris and Ryu mean the world to me. I don't know what I would do without their silly tactics. They are so much alike, which makes this mommy thing even more fun. I am so glad that they are a part of me and that they are able to tolerate my long hours of school and study time. It is a good thing that I have such an amazing family. I am so lucky! Happy birthday boys! I love you!!

Ry's first Halloween was a success. Chris and I had a lot of fun re-living the holiday through Ry man's eyes. Although Ry is a little young for tricker treating, Halloween seemed to have the old "feel" to it again. You know how it use to feel when we were little? Remember the excitement of wearing ridiculous get-ups and eating candy for the next two months? I guess one of the joys of having children is that you are able to remember all those great feelings and childhood memories.

Since I had some time off from school, we thought that it would be fun to cruise to Catalina and Ensanada, Mexico. We had so much fun! I am so glad the we got to go and that Ry could come. However, just before we left, poor Ry got his first ear infection and sore throat. He had to be on antibiotics the whole trip but he was amazing, as always. He loved every bit of the trip. He is such a laid back kid. He loves to just hang out and enjoy the adventure! I am such a lucky mommy!

Why am I the only one paying attention?? I am in trouble aren't I? We drove to LA rather than flying. Actually, it was a really fun road trip. We left at four in the morning so Ry could sleep most of the way. It worked out perfect and Ry had a great time traveling!

First time swimming! Ry loved it and so did Chris and I. We had so much fun watching him play in the water!
I guess this means I have to go swimming more often.

Ry had all four limbs in constant motion, splashing in every direction. I am so glad the he liked swimming. After the encounter with the ocean, I wasn't so sure it was going to work out!

Wahoo, we got to go camping again! I was so excited to go this time. Wow, such a relief to only worry about what we were going to have for dinner and not about what book I had to study from or some paper nagging at me to write it! I LOVE being home to be with Ry and Chris. It is so nice to hold what I have been missing. Ryu is full of adventure and squeezable cheeks! He is just so irresistible! LOVE IT!

Wahoo!! Mommy finished Summer semester yesterday!

Yes...It is true! Yesterday was my last final for the Summer! I get FIVE weeks of "normalcy" and to be a mommy! I am SO excited. In fact, I don't think I have ever been this excited to be home! This will be the longest stretch of time I have ever been home with Ry! Bliss!! Yes, BLISS! Only TWO more semester to go until graduation...what comes after bliss? Heavenly sweetness, I guess??? There is a light at the end of the tunnel!! So, now it is time to play catch up. When finals come around, I pretty much go MIA. It is a good thing I have a great husband and family who supports me and helps me with Ry. I don't know how I would make life work without them!

One of our favorite activities is to hang out of the back lawn! It is so much fun to watch Ry discover new objects and feeling. He is very entertaining.

We took Ry to his very first rodeo. He did really well. He loved to watch the horses and the Wild Child AKA crazy man on a motorcycle.

Well, this was the parade on the 24th of July...Ry watched it from the back of his eyelids.

Life changes so fast. It is hard to keep up with each other and let our hair down to relax. BUT, good friends remain the same. Christy, Ashley, Heidy, Hillary and I have been friends since we were 14. These girls helped construct who I am today and are major part of my life and memories.
Heidy is a mommy of two and is leaving to the Cayman Islands, while her amazing husband is going to medical school. We had to get together for one last girl's night before Heidy leaves the states.

Christy is a mommy of three year old Jaxson.

Hillary is a mommy too! She has a 18 month old named Ammie.
Ashley is a cute mommy to be...she's having a boy!

We had a ton of fun! It was nice to hang out and talk about old memories. It felt like good old times.

My FiRsT CaMPinG TrIp!

For my first 4th of July, my mommy and daddy took me on a camping trip! I was sooo excited! My mommy and daddy love to go camping...and I do too!!

A few days before we were to go camping, my daddy thought that he better find us a spot to camp before all of the spots were taken. (the 4th of July is very popular for camping extraordinaries) So, he and my uncle chucky went to set up our tents to reserve me a place to play.

It took about one our to drive up the canyon to our spot. But, when we got there...a police man had blocked off the road that we needed to take. I guess there was a little fire they had to get under control. It took about two hours to make sure it was safe. It was cool to see a police man!

We drove FOREVER on this really bumpy road

...but when we got there someone had stolen our tents! I know...I can't believe it either!! So, daddy got on his four wheeler to search out a new spot to camp.

Daddy did a really good job at finding a nice place for us to camp. It took him a while because there were so many people camping and it was really high up on the mountain. It was really pretty though, dontcha think??

The weather was PERFECT the first day. It was a nice 75 degrees!

Luckily, our friends Chad and Marie had a tent that we could borrow! Thanks Chad and Marie!!! It would have been too cold for me without a tent!

We were only planning on staying Friday night but I had so much fun that mommy and daddy decided to stay one more night. To stay one more night, daddy had to go back home to get me some clean clothes and more FOOD! I love my food, so does Justin!

While daddy was gone, me and my mommy played in the tent because it was raining! WOW, my first camping trip and rain storm, all in one weekend!

I got to hear thunder for the first time...I wasn't even scared. Not one little bit!

After the rain, I got to see my first two rainbows!! It was really cool. Mommy said it looked like a picture out of National Geographic! What is National Geographic??

I am glad that it stopped raining...I really like to be outside.

Sunday, we packed up our stuff ( minus our stolen tent) and drove on that bumpy road again! About a mile down the bumps, a jeep had lost its wheel. We had to wait a little while so daddy let me drive for a minute...well pretend drive. He says I am too little to drive for reals...I don't know about that. I am a big boy ya know!

So, here we are...Ry is six months old. It's hard for me to wrap my mind around the idea that Ryu is going to grow up... no matter how much I protest it. I swear time has taken a leap in speed!

These past six months have been so much fun! I can't wait to see what the next six months will bring! Although, the thought of Ry walking is scary! Stitches?!

My father-in-law, Ike, is pretty amazing when it comes to wood working. He is so creative! He has made some of the most beautiful furniture I have ever seen. So...check out his latest creation!

This is Ryu's new high chair! How AMAZING is this??!! The whole chair is made out of wood, including the puppy! The puppy is Lucy, our dog! How cool!!

Lucy's face is made out of several different types of wood. No, this is not paint...not even her tongue! Who knew there are so many colors of wood?? There are over 75 different cuts just for Lucy's hair! I have to say, this almost made me cry. It took all that I had to not blubber tears. This high chair is so special to me! Thank you so much Ike. We love it! You are AMAZING!!

He's going to be an outdoor kind of guy!

Ry really likes to be outside. He is so content just watching the tress blow in the wind. I really enjoy taking him outside and to watch him discover the world for the first time! It is kind of like being a kid again. It's great!!

I wish you could see the full luxury of those eyelashes...they are amazing!

Five months old?!

Yesterday, while I was sitting with Nikki and my little Keizya baby, I noticed that Ry no longer has the "cry" of a little baby. He no longer has the tiny breathing patterns of an infant, nor the small grunts and groans that use to escape his little lips. It is unbelievable how time seems to melt away faster than I can breath. Ry has gotten so big and is learning new skills every day. Somehow, my little Ryu is FIVE months old! How did we get here so fast Ry?

You were so small...a perfect 7 pounds.

Daddy could hold you with only one hand.

But now, you can sit by yourself...just for a minute. You can play with your toys and have so much fun!

You enjoy you thumb as much as you do your bottle.

And...you always have a new funny face to make mommy and daddy laugh!

I can't tell you how much I love my little family. I am so thankful for this chance to be a mommy and a wife. These last five months have been "life changing." The world looks so much different now...in ways that I never knew existed. Thank you Chris and Ry! I love you so much!!

Ryu and I were so lucky today! Nicole and Gavin came to visit us. Man... am I glad that I had Nicole to guide me through the transition phase to MOMMY! Nicole supplied me with a lot of advice and "goods" that helped me make the change. I don't know what I would have done without you Cole! Thank you so much for everything you have done for us! We love you!!

This is Ry with our good friend Tammie. We went to lunch at Zupas...a first for Ry and I. It was really good! Tammie and I are always up for some good grub! We both tend to gravitate towards food!!

Tammie and I worked together for five years. I am so lucky to know her. She is such an inspiration of life and profession! It was so fun to catch up on our recent adventures and learning curves. We love our Tams!!

TULIPS AND GOLD FISH

So...Nikki and I had this great idea to take the babies for a stroll through the tulip festival at Thanksgiving point. Ha... you should have seen me trying to stuff two large size strollers in the trunk, hoping that the passing cars were not paying any attention to my seemingly handicapped self. After numerous attempts to make the trunk useful, the back seat became nicely decorated with two car seats...carrying our tiny clones of our husbands, and the second stroller... that now seemed even larger that I thought it was. The car was a instantly transformed into a baby mobile, packed to the seams with stroll'n gear...which somewhat resembled a jigsaw puzzle. WOW, and I think I want more?! Needless to say, it became obvious that this trip was not going to be as easy as we planned. Holy crap!!! It was a lot of work to pack up two little ones, strollers, diaper bags, cameras, and all the other necessities for packing around small people!

Eventually, we had everything and everyone packed to go. We planned on leaving around noon but we didn't even get on the road until 2:00! Oh... but the flowers were pretty!

The cool fish mastered his short attention span for a few minutes. Little Keizya enjoyed most of the trip looking at her own eyelids! Well, at least her flower kept the sun out of her eyes.

Even though we had some difficulties making the trip, we still enjoyed the beautiful day. It was a fun adventure! Maybe next year will be a little easier. Ha...who am I kidding?! There might be more of the small ones!

Who eats more? Chris for sure. He is a skinny, little thing but he can definitely pack the chow!

Who said I love you first? Chris. It took me a few months to catch up with him. It's not that I didn't love him, I just wasn't sure I wanted to take that step. Yes...I was chicken!

Who is taller? Chris. Come on....I am a Huff, of course Chris is taller.

Once again, I have fallen behind in my Blogging! Excuses?? No, just the usual business of life! Starting Wednesday, I get two weeks off school. Yeah, lots of time to spend with Ry and Chris! Wahoo!! Keizya update

Keizya is doing really well. She is sleeping better at night. Nikki and Jeff are having tons of fun with her. She is such a sweet thing. We love having her around. Although, when her and Ry are together...it is a bit ridiculous. If Keizya whimpers, Ry gets very upset! Poor Ryu! He just is sensitive that way, I guess! He probably got that form me!

1. Most embarrassing moment... I'll have to think about this one some more. I get back to it in a separate post.
2. What is something you think about and laugh every time. Every time I think about Ryu, I smile. He thinks everything is so funny and has the cutest laugh ever.
3. Favorite season, why? Spring because everything is so new and I get some relief from the cold.
4. Hero? Hmm...hard one. I have so many good examples to look up to. I am going to have to generalize it to all who is able to overcome and conquer what is placed before them.

This is my new, little niece! Baby Keizya (kay-zya) was born in the early hours on the 19th of March. She weighed a perfect 6 pounds and 6 ounces! At least a pound of her weight was hair! We are so glad that she is finally here! She and Ry will be great friends!

Keizya's mommy and daddy are doing great, despite the sleep deprivation and new baby routine! Nikki and Jeff are great parents and seem to enjoy the sweet moments with their new baby girl!

EASTER

Chris and I took Ry to the Spanish Fork Easter egg hunt on Saturday! We had so much fun, even though it was a little cool in the morning.

Ry had just gotten his shots the day before, so I wasn't sure if we were going to make it. But, he felt great and was all smiles early in the morning!

I think he liked all the commotion and to be outside. Besides, all the eggs spread out on the baseball field looked really cool. He didn't have a clue as to what was going on, but I thought it would be fun to check it out!

Chris...I mean Ry, got seven eggs! He won a few free bowling games, a kids meal, and some candy his mommy enjoyed on the way home!

Saturday's are not just for Easter egg hunts. There are things to do so, Chris got to wash the car. He was delighted...nothing better to do on a Saturday, Right?

We also stopped at the "I Dunno" restaurant to have breakfast with grandma and grandpa! Biscuits and gravy anyone? MMM...fattening!

My little guy has grown so much. At four months he weights 14 pounds and 8 ounces. He is a whopping 24 inches long and is outgrowing everything I buy him! He is a bean sprout I say!

Ry has had a few new adventures this last week. He got to try Rice cereal, which he didn't particularly care for. He prefers applesauce, hands down! I can't say I blame him! I don't think I would like rice cereal either.

Ry figured out the he can use his toes for other things, like kicking and pinching the itsy bitsy spiders. Toes are not just for "little piggies went to the market" anymore! Look out!

Ry can sit in his bouncy chair and actually touch the floor. He likes the independence and to move around all by himself. He is pretty fun to watch and laugh at!

In fact, the little guy tuckered himself out from all the bouncing. Sweet, little dude just had too much fun!

Wow! I love to be a mom! My only regret is that I can't spend, and devote, my whole day and time with him. I miss him every second that I am away. I love to watch him grow yet, I find myself missing yesterday. He is changing so fast! It is all that I can do to keep up with him!

It is so amazing to grow together as a family and watch Chris soak in daddy moments! Nothing has made us more happier and grateful than becoming parents and enjoying the many sweet and tender moments with Ryu.

Who couldn't love this smile?! I don't know what I would do without Ry and Chris. I am so lucky to have a family that feels so perfect. If I existed for only a few moments for Ry's smile and the experience of being a wife to Chris, life would be worthwhile!

Hmmm...applesauce! Who doesn't like applesauce? Ryu has become a fan. We thought that it would be fun to let him taste something other than formula. The little man enjoyed every bite!

This is my grandma! My grandma is so much fun! She babysits me when my mommy is at school and when daddy is at work. My grandma is really funny. I laugh at her silly noises and songs. She sings this goofy song about monkey's jumping on the bed, I like that one! She likes to read me stories and play fun games. Don't tell my mom but grandma LOVES to spoils me. I get everything and anything I want. Yeah...I have her wrapped around my finger! I love my grandma so much. I am so glad that I get to spend so much time with her! I know that my mom and dad appreciate all of her help and they feel comforted knowing that I am with her when they are not. Thanks grandma! Ahh...the weather is finally warming up so, we took a little stroll around the block!

So...today was my last mid-term! Whahoo, half a semester down! I am really looking forward to Spring Break! I can't wait to spend some time at home to catch up with the little one and make an attempt at house duties! Oh, and the great weather that comes with the season! I am currently done with winter!

Ryu, Chris and I have a date this Saturday. It is suppose to be warmer weather so we are going for Ryu's first stroller ride! I think he will really enjoy riding around. He loves to keep moving and to see new things. It is so fun to spend a whole day with him and watch him change right before my eyes.

Life is much different as a mom. I have learned much about myself. I have also gained a new respect and appreciation for my parents. What a job! Being a mom has been the most rewarding experience thus far. Yet, it is so difficult to change and expect change on a regular basis. I am a creature of habit so... making adjustments can be difficult at times. Honestly, I had dreaded the day I had to worry and care about someone other than myself and Chris. I was so afraid of making the "mommy" steps and loosing myself in the rhythm of this routine. Funny...what we become when a situation is set before us. I am amazed at the way our bodies and souls conform to what is necessary and how everything seems to find a place in the chaos.

Ryu has developed a new trick. He has gained some control over his hands so...he likes to help me feed him. Sometimes, he makes it a little difficult since he tugs and pulls at his bottle and then gets mad if he is not getting anything to eat RIGHT NOW!!

Yeah so, Chris calls this FUN! This is a paint ball wound that he is proud of and really enjoys getting these battle bruises! Nice one babe! This is the best one so far!!

Happy Leap Year!

Well...I have been a little behind lately. Life has changed some in these last three months. I have been keeping really busy with mid-terms and my new job as mommy...which I do love more than anything! Although, I swear there are not enough hours in one day! My "to do" list just keep getting longer and time just seems to escape me! Yet, there has been so many good things added to my life! Beyond the hustle of the day, dirty diapers, soaking dishes, and collected dust bunnies there are yummy, baby bubble baths, a crooked smile, and little giggles accented with spit bubbles! I never would have guessed that a little one would make life more fun than it already was. I guess Ryu needed to teach me that!

Ryu is three months old already! I Can't believe how fast he is growing! He makes new sounds and gestures everyday! He sleeps 7 to 10 hours every night and he wakes with a smile...a perfect way to start the day! He has discovered his fists and his reflection, which he think is quite hilarious, and I think he has finally noticed little Lucy!

Ryu loves to spend time with his daddy! He looks so much like Chris, only with a Huff smile. I know Ry is going to walk in Chris's shadow and worship the ground he walks on! I wouldn't want it any other way! Ryu is pretty lucky to have such a fun dad. We are so grateful for such an adorable son!

Ryu has just passed ten weeks old. We are enjoying every new memory created by his developing personality and cute, little gestures. He keeps us going and makes us smile! I didn't know being a mommy would be so much fun! Thanks Ry!

This year has been great for snow! I can't remember a time when we had this much snow! The snow is beautiful but I am so ready for SPRING! I can't wait for some warmer weather and R.S.V. season to be over! Come on Spring!!

Ryu's Two Month Check

Yesterday was Ryu's two month check up with Dr. Bennett. Ryu has grown so much! Get ready for this....he now weights 12 pounds and has grown 2 and a quater inches! I am so Proud! At his two week check he weighed 7.13 and was just 20 inches! I'd say we have good growth. Hopefully, he got a miricle gene from one of us and won't be too short! I don't know though, he does have the Huff smile so it is possible he will be short like a Huff!! We'll see!

Ry also got his immunizations. He was a good sport. The poor little guy had a huge lump in his leg and is now running a fever. Ry is a really good baby. He has been sleeping through the night but, last night he didn't feel so well. It is hard to see my little guy so sad! So, for now we are living with the blessed Tylenol!

First Patient!

Yesterday, I saw my first patient! It was tons of fun...well, atleast for me. Tom was a good sport! It's a good thing I have a willing little bro. I guess that means I wasn't too mean to him growing up?!
I really enjoy school. I know it's where I need to be, even though I hate to leave Ryu so much! I am so glad that I have awesome babysitters! Thanks mom, dad, and Nikki. I don't know how I would make it without you!!
At school, we do FREE cleanings! You get x-rays and an exam too, which is really nice if you don't have insurance! So, if anyone is interested, come see me!!! Call 426-8234. Ask to schedule with Suzy Whiteman. I promise I will be nice!!

8 WEEKS OLD!

It just doesn't feel possible that Ryu is already eight weeks old! I can't believe how fast time is slipping away! It has been a blast to watch our little guy grow! He is getting bigger, stronger, and so cute...of course! Good news!!! I've discovered the cure for a bad day...take one of these smiles twice daily and call me in the morning!

LADIES NIGHT!!

A few of us ladies got together Friday night for some dinner! We went to TJI Fridays. It had been a really long time since I had been there so, I had forgotten what it was like. Actually, it was really good! We ate our little hearts out and laughed ourselves silly, as usual! It was a blast!

Happy anniversary babe!

Today Chris and I have been married for five years! I cannot believe how fast time goes when we are together. Chris is everything I could have hoped for as a husband. He is amazingly patient, strong, and so loving to Ryu and I. Chris has always made me feel as if I am the sun in his world from day one! Okay...he is getting too cute! Ryu is growing so big. He changes every day. There is nothing quite like seeing his smile, wouldn't you agree?

Ryu turned seven weeks old yesterday. It was a big day for our little man! He rolled over twice in a row! I can't believe how strong he is getting! He is doing really well, despite his never ending cold.

This year Jared hosted the New Year's party. We had lots of fun and lots of food to receive 2008! Amazingly, everyone was home by 1:30am. A new development since previous years were a lot later...or should I say earlier?? I guess some of us are settling down a bit!

Highlights of 2007

2007 was a remarkable year for Chris and I. We kept ourselves very busy while managing to make lots of entertaining memories together. No doubt will this year go down in the history books!

Chris is keeping busy with helicopter school. He has been working hard these last few months on his instrument rated license. Next will be his CFI license, which he will attain when graduating in April. He is doing very well and loves to Fly. I...well, I have gotten use to the idea of him flying. I am very proud of him and how hard he works towards his goals. Besides, he is a cute pilot!

I was lucky to be accepted into dental hygiene school last August. It is lots of fun and keeps me very busy. I have had the last three weeks off for Christmas vacation. School starts again on Monday. I am ready to go back but sad to leave Ryu. I have had so much fun with him and I love to spend all of my energy and time with Ryu and Chris. School will be a little harder this semester leaving Ryu behind.

Last March we decided to get a puppy. After looking at many puppies, we were lucky to find Lucy. She was a dang cute puppy, don't ya think?

About one month after we got Lucy, to our SURPRISE, we found out we were going to have Ryu. Since I had just been accepted to school, Chris is in school, and we were not planning to have any babies for a long time, it took us awhile to get use to the idea. Even though our lives have flipped completely around, we are having so much fun with him and love him so much!!

Flaming Gorge

Every summer we take a trip to Lake Powell. This last summer we decided to try something new and ventured the other direction to Flaming Gorge. It was so much FUN and it was beautiful! The water was a little cooler that Lake Powell but, it felt good to my pregnant body!

In August we celebrated Linda's birthday at our house. This birthday was very thrilling because this is when we found out that Nikki and Jeff were going to have a baby! They are having a girl who is expected to arrive in March! We are all very excited to have a baby girl in the family!

Welcome Ryu!

Perhaps the most exciting, terrifying, and any other emotion you could think of, would be the birth of our son. How crazy is parenthood? This has been the most unique experience of our lives yet. Ryu was a magnificent, grand finale to end 2007 and to welcome many great years to come!

Ryu is one month old already! He is getting so big and changing so much. He is eating tons and keeping us busy at night. He is becoming more alert and traces our faces with his eyes. He is one cute baby!! This is him sleeping in his "buzzy" chair~the best invention in the world!! He loves this chair! Anyone who has a little one needs a "buzzy" chair!

Christmas Whiteman Style 2007

It's become a tradition for the Whitemans to get together on Christmas Eve. It helps us married folk spend more time with both sides of the family. Plus, it makes for two Christmas days!! Who would argue with that? We had lots of fun together after we all braved the snow to get to Ike and Linda's house in Woodland Hills!! We Had lots of good treats with Brandi's homemade wassail to top it off!

We spent Christmas day with my family. Christmas was tons of fun this year with Ryu here! Ryu is my parents first grandchild. So, of course he is star of the day... everyday! We had lots of fun and totally over ate for the second day in a row! That is easy to do at my parents house! Chris made my family a surprise. He made some sushi. Dad and Tom were the only ones brave enough to try it! To my surprise, they both kind of liked it! The others are missing out because Chris makes some good sushi!!
